Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Breaks Pre-Order Record in South Korea: Report
It has been a week since the launch of Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 and the phablet has reportedly already broken the record for most pre-ordered Galaxy smartphone in the company's home country South Korea.

According to a report by The Korean Herald, the company has received over 200,000 pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 within two days of its announcement, which is supposedly double what the Galaxy S7 received.

Samsung has been busy promoting the Galaxy Note 7 in the country, offering deals such as free Gear Fit 2 worth KRW 198,000 (roughly Rs. 12,000), 50 percent discount on screen repair, and a gift card worth KRW 100,000 (roughly Rs. 6,000) with every purchase of the device.

The Galaxy Note 7 has been launched with some major features like an iris scanner and dual pixel rear camera along with top-of-the-line specs including 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 64GB of inbuilt storage that's expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB), and it is powered by either a Snapdragon 820 SoC or Exynos 8890 SoC, depending on the region.

Furthermore, the phablet comes with IP68 certification which means it is dust and water resistant and can survive for up to 30 minutes or 1.5 meters underwater. The Note 7 borrows the 'Dual Pixel' 12-magapixel rear camera sensor from the Galaxy S7 with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), f/1.7 aperture and dual-LED flash.

The India launch of the Galaxy Note 7 will take place on Thursday, based on the invites sent out by the company last week. In the meanwhile, the dual-SIM version of the smartphone was spotted on the company's India site.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was announced to be available globally from August 19 at a price of KRW 988,900 (roughly Rs. 59,810) and will be offered in Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium, and Black Onyx.

Apple is widely expected to host its annual iPhone launch event sometime early next month. The upcoming iPhone is said to sport minimal design changes, and come in three variants. While leaks have been numerous surrounding the next Apple smartphone, the Apple Watch leaks have been comparatively negligible. However, a noted analyst - KGI Securities' Ming Chi Kuo - has now released an investor note hinting that two Apple Watch variants are incoming, and will launch later this year, probably alongside the next iPhone.

The Apple Watch 2 is said to be thinner than the current model, and come with support for GPS alongside a barometer. It will also be powered by a new 16nm processor from TSMC. Kuo also suggests that the Apple Watch 2 will pack a larger battery to accommodate all these new components

Sony to Reveal PS4 Neo in September: Report
Sony to Reveal PS4 Neo in September: Report

With Microsoft revealing Project Scorpio at E3 2016 and Nintendo slated to announce the NX in September, Sony may unveil the PS4 Neo in September as well.

According to French gaming site Gameblog, you can expect the PS4 Neo's first details at an event in New York on September 7. The reason for the location is that it's the same city where Sony made the first public showcase of the PS4 and September 7 gives the company enough time to possibly pre-empt a supposed Nintendo NX announcement that Gameblog claims is on September 12.

The news of a September 7 reveal was corroborated by Vice's gaming section.

"One source, who chose to remain anonymous, described the upcoming event as a "technical showcase." As recently as a few weeks ago, Sony was still nailing down what would actually be shown," a post on Vice reads.

Assuming this is true, it does tie in with what we've heard from publishers in the past, that their upcoming releases from October onwards have to support the PS4 Neo.

Windows 10 to Get 2 Major Updates in 2017, Reveals Microsoft
Technology giant Microsoft has announced that it would roll out two major updates for Windows 10 next year after releasing a third and final update in 2016 - the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

Even if the leaked images come out to be true, the Xperia XR may or may not be unveiled in India.

Sanyo is offering two good deals on TVs with A+ grade IPS panels and 178 degree viewing angle, along with HDMI*2, USB*2, PC*1, AV*2, RF*1 ports. The 49-inch model is going at Rs. 34,990, while the 43-inch model is available at Rs. 24,990, making them good bang for the buck.

Other AmazonBasics accessories
As you would expect, there are deals on Amazon's own range of AmazonBasics accessories. If you've had your eye on certain laptop or tablet sleeves, or some other cables, this might be a good time to check them out.

Other mobiles

There are deals on plenty of other mobiles like the Acer Liquid Jade, Blu Win HD LTE, Micromax Canvas Win W121, Canvas 2 Colours, Canvas Nitro 2, Phicomm Passion 660, and Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. Do note that most of these phones are rather dated at this point, and may not represent the best bang for your buck. But if you are in the market for these specific models for some reason, this information might come in useful.

Lenovo Vibe K5 Note First Impressions

Lenovo India on Monday launched its new Vibe K5 Note smartphone. The Chinese company made sure there was enough hype ahead of the official launch of the Vibe K5 Note with several teasers on social media revealing features one at a time. The new Lenovo Vibe K5 Note has a lot of improvements over its predecessor, the Vibe K4 Note, such as an all-metal body.

Appearence
The Lenovo Vibe K5 Note has been launched in three colours: black, gold, and grey. The all-metal body is easy enough to hold and use, but the matte finish on the Vibe K4 Note offers a better grip. The metal also means that the Vibe K5 Note at 165 grams is slightly heavier than its predecessor which weighed 158 grams. On the other hand, the Vibe K5 Note is slimmer at 8.4mm than the Vibe K4 Note (9.1mm).

Display
Much like the Vibe K4 Note, the Vibe K5 Note sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920-pixel) IPS display. The pixel density is also same at 401ppi. The new Vibe K5 Note however doesn't have a Corning Gorilla Glass layer for protection against scratches. The display on the Vibe K5 Note looks bright and crisp, and we found legibility to be decent in direct sunlight. Viewing angles were fairly decent.Lenovo has gone for capacitive buttons instead of onscreen ones for the Android home, recents, and back navigation controls. The physical volume and power buttons are placed on the right, and we found their tactile feel to be good. The "Vibe" brand is seen in the middle of the rear, while the Lenovo logo is lower down.

Camera:
The rear of the Vibe K5 Note looks symmetrical with the primary camera, dual-tone LED flash, and fingerprint scanner all placed in one line. The Lenovo Vibe K5 Note sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with a dual-LED flash, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The rear camera comes with features such as PDAF (phase detection autofocus), and packs an ISOCELL sensor. The camera app launched quickly after tapping on the icon. In our short time with the device, we found that images taken with the K5 Note under normal lighting seemed crisp, with good details. On zooming in, the corners of the images didn't seem pixelated. The front-facing 8-megapixel camera also took decent images though we will reserve our verdict on the cameras until we get a chance to test them under varied conditions.

OS /Specifications
The final version of the Vibe K5 Note which will be sold here will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow with slight tweaks from Lenovo, and will offer a near-stock experience.
The Lenovo Vibe K5 Note sports an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755M) processor clocked at 1.8GHz, coupled with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and Mali-T860 GPU. Both models will have 32GB of onboard storage, with support of expandable storage via microSD card (up to 128GB).ound that the smartphone was responsive to touch inputs and quick enough during multitasking

Verdict:
The Lenovo Vibe K5 Note will be available at Rs. 11,999 for the model with 3GB of RAM while the model with 4GB of RAM will come in at Rs. 13,499. The phone will go on sale exclusively on Flipkart, with open availability rather than flash sales.

At these price points, the Vibe K5 Note models will be competing against some of the most popular phones in the country, including the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Moto G4 Plus, and Le Eco Le 2. The K5 Note brings a lot of upgrades compared to its predecessor, but is it worth buying,

Android Captured 97 Percent Smartphone Market Share in India in Q2 2016: Strategy Analytics

Research firm Strategy Analytics on Thursday said that Google's mobile operating system Android captured 97 percent of the total smartphone market share in India in terms of shipments, to retain its top position during the second quarter of 2016. "Android shipped 29.8 million smartphones in India in Q2 2016, growing an impressive 28 percent annually from 23.2 million units in Q2 2015. Android maintained first position across India with a record 97 percent OS share for the quarter, up from 90 percent a year ago," Strategy Analytics' Executive Director was quoted as saying in the release.

The total smartphone shipments in India grew 19 percent year-on-year to 30.7 million units from 25.8 million units in April-June last year, Strategy Analytics said in its release.

"Android dominates the India smartphone market and looks unbeatable right now, due to its deep portfolio of hardware partners, extensive distribution channels, and a wide range of low-cost apps like Gmail."If the numbers are any indication, Android has taken such a lead that it will be hard for Apple to gain any momentum without drastically reducing its product prices.

Review Of Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime

Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime is a one-of-its-kind smartphone

Xiaomi’s Redmi 3S Prime is a handful in the budget Android smartphone segment, despite competition from Micromax Unite 4 Pro and Coolpad Note 3 Lite

Xiaomi has upped the ante again, in the budget Android smartphone segment, with the new Redmi 3S Prime. Priced at Rs.8,999, the Redmi 3S Prime faces competition from the likes of the Micromax Unite 4 Pro (Rs.7,499) and the Coolpad Note 3 Lite (Rs.6,999)

Design: Handy and solidly built

Designed on similar lines as the big-screen Redmi Note 3, the Redmi 3S Prime offers a more compact form (it is 139mm tall and 69mm wide, while the Redmi Note 3 is 150mm tall and 76mm wide). The Redmi 3S Prime weighs 142g and snuggles comfortably into small hands due to the matte finish and the rounded edges.

The fingerprint sensor on the Redmi 3S Prime is placed on the back panel and is pretty accurate to use. Like all Xiaomi phones, the touch-based navigation keys are placed below the display

The fingerprint scanner may be absent in the 2 GB variant so I recommand Not Buy 2 GB Variant

Display: Small screen looks good

The Redmi 3S Prime has a good-looking 5-inch display with a resolution of 1280x720p and pixel density of 296ppi. At this price point and screen size, most phones have similar or even lower resolution screens. Colours look rich, while app icons and text looks crisp. It handles reflections and visibility in bright light well
However, there is a shortcoming which cannot be ignored. The display is a bit too glossy, vulnerable to smudges, and prone to scratches.

Software: New Android with customized UI

The Redmi 3S Prime runs the Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) operating system with MIUI 7 over it. It is a colourful UI with some very nicely-designed themes, app icons and wallpapers. There is no app drawer. All apps are placed on the home screen itself. The multi-tasking window shows apps running in the background in a vertical card-based format, similar to the Widows phones. It comes with some interesting modes such as Lite mode, which switches on another interface with bigger icons and fewer features, the child mode, which restricts access to a select apps and is good for users with a kid.

Performance: Steady and long lasting

Powered by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor with 3GB RAM, the Redmi 3S Prime delivered a smooth and stutter-free performance even when we had 8-10 apps open and kicking in the background.

Though the small screen rules out playing each and every game comfortably, it was able to take care of games such as Asphalt 8 without any glitch and heating issues. The smartphone offers 32GB of storage which is unheard of at this price point. You can add another 128GB via micro SD cad which is built in on one of the SIM card slots.

The dual SIM card slots support all major 4G networks in India.

The phone’s biggest highlight is the 4,100mAh battery, which gives up to two days of backup with ease.

Camera: Bright and fast

The 13-megapixel camera is fast and is backed by a very user-friendly interface. Swiping right shows all the filters, while swiping left shows all the modes such as beautify, panorama, manual and timer. It has a tendency to oversaturate colours a little, giving the objects a slightly brighter look. So the picture looks good but far from the original. In terms of clarity and detailing, it is at par with any other budget smartphone with a good camera. The picture looks crisp enough for social media posts. Low-light shots look blurred and washed out.

Verdict

Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime is by far the most well-endowed small screen phone in the range of Rs.5,000 to Rs.10,000. The only other device, which comes closer to it in terms of build quality and design is the Micromax Unite 4 Pro, but it uses an inferior Spreadtrum processor, runs old Android and has an inferior camera.

In case you don’t want to spend Rs.8,999, you should go for the Coolpad Note 3 Lite, which is a smooth performer, offers 5-inch HD display, a good daytime camera and has a fingerprint sensor.
